Lorient vs. Saint Etienne

Saint-Etienne lost 3-1 at Lorient in the French League on Sunday. This way they put an end to their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Also, I lost the bet I placed on Saint-Etienne last week, with the odds from William Hill.
Lorient managed to take the lead five minutes after halftime, when defender Lamine Gassama raced down the right flank before crossing to the far post to allow Kevin Monnet-Paquet to head in. In the 68th minute, Fabien Robert doubled Lorient’s advantage when he headed in an accurate ball received from Benjamin Corgnet.
Saint Etienne’s central defender Kurt Zouma reduced the deficit on the scoring table 10 minutes from the end of the game, when he headed in Romain Hamouma’s corner. The guests thought they would be able to reduce the difference shortly afterwards but unfortunately for them, the effort of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang proved to be in vain; because the ball was flagged offside. That was the moment when Yann Jouffre sealed the result in stoppage time.
After this disappointing result suffered in front of Lorient, Saint-Etienne is currently situated sixth in the Ligue 1 standings, four points behind Lyon which will soon have to host Paris Saint-Germain, with the visitors urging to get a win to clinch the title.
Result:-6 units, bet lost
