Southampton vs Arsenal (Premier League, 01.01.2015)

Southampton-vs-Arsenal-01-january-2015-prediction

The first day of 2015 brings a highly entertaining Premier League game: Southampton host Arsenal for the right to decide the 4th placed team. Both teams have the same number of points, but Southampton have the last Champions League place due to a superior goal difference. Southampton are on an unbeaten run of three matches, Arsenal on one of five, but in the end only one team will get to continue said record.

Southampton started the season well, but then ended up losing five matches in a row, including one against Arsenal at the beginning of December. Their most recent result is a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, but against the Gunners they will have to do without Schneiderlin who got a red card against Chelsea. Tadic and Ward-Prowse return from injury, but chances are they will come only as substitution, and still be able to help their team in the attack. Notice the fact that Arsenal have conceded the most goals from counter attacks during the first half of Premier League, with three.

Arsenal come from another well-deserved, but hard fought win against West Ham, which puts them in the direct battle for third place with Manchester United. Welbeck and Oxlade-Chamberlain make a good duel for assisting and scoring goals, and with Sanchez in great form the Gunners will be up for at least the same result as against West Ham. Debuchy and Koscielny’s return kept Szczęsny mostly out of dangerous situations, and Arsene Wenger is hoping for another away win.

In the first half of the season the teams met twice, shared the wins, but looking back at statistics, Southampton are unable to win against Arsenal in Premier League since 2002. However with how good Sanchez and Welbeck are, they will have to get past Forster who only conceded 15 goals this season. Theo Walcott could also start which will increase Arsenal’s speed and make it almost impossible for the hosts to keep up the pace.

Bet365 gives Southampton 3.00 odds, slightly favoring the Gunners for the three points with 2.50 odds. A draw has 3.40 odds, Southampton for both halves 4.75 odds and Arsenal in the same market 4.00 odds. Over 2.5 goals has 2.00 odds, both teams to score 1.72, Graziano Pelle has 2.40 odds to score, Alexis Sanchez 2.62 and Danny Welbeck 2.75. Southampton to win either half 1.90 odds while Arsenal got 1.72 for either half. We are going to bet 5 units on Arsenal scoring in both halves with 3.75 odds from Bet365.

Manchester City vs Everton (Premier League, 06.12.2014)

Manchester-City-vs-Everton-05-december-2014-prediction

Manchester City keep their pursuit of happiness which is another Premier League title in the match against an Everton side that don’t seem to get anything right. After embarrassing themselves with a loss against CSKA Moscow in Champions League, the Citizens continue with their unbeaten run of five matches. Everton’s last five matches show one defeat, two wins and two draws. It is mixed results like this that put them currently on the 11th place in the table.

Kompany’s injury is not as serious as feared, but it is unclear whether Pellegrini will risk the defender prior to their crucial Champions League match. Mangala is back from suspension, and chances are we’ll see a Demichelis-Mangala defensive partnership. Everton are awaiting definitive news on Naismith’s return from his hamstring injury, and could benefit from Eto’o returning to the forward line. McCarthy is also making a timely return to Everton’s starting eleven which should provide home fans with some assurance that it might not get too bad.

Everton finished 5th last season and their recent form guaranteed them Europa League play offs, but cannot help them much in Premier League. Last time Everton won at Etihad was back in 2013, and ever since Manchester City has been winning their head to head matches. However, Everton could benefit from the fact that despite Aguero’s scoring form, they are rather bad at keeping clean sheets. Ross Barkley is yet to recover his pre-injury form, and together with Osman and Barry create a line that would put the Citizens in trouble.

We don’t think Man City will jeopardize their Premier League title chances, which is why Bet365 gives them 1.50 odds to win, because as long as Aguero plays, the Citizens win. Everton got 7.00 odds for an upset and a draw has 4.75 odds. Under 3.5 cards per game has 2.00 odds, and if you want to bet on corners then between 9 and 11 corners have 3.00 odds. Aguero has 1.72 odds to score, Jovetic 2.25 while Lukaku has 3.20 odds for the same market. We are going to bet 5 units on Manchester City to win both halves with 3.40 odds from Bet365.

Arsenal London vs Southampton (Premier League, 03.12.2014)

Arsenal-vs-Southampton-03-december-2014-prediction

The race for the Champions League places is heating up in Premier League as Arsenal meet third placed Southampton for a chance to determine who gets to feel closer to a European place. Arsenal are currently on the 6th place with 20 points, while Southampton are on the third with 26. Arsenal are on a rise at this moment and the bookmakers give them the edge to win, despite the fact that there are six points separating the two.

Southampton started the year very well which allowed them the third spot, but once they started facing their direct competitors, the bad results began piling in, case to study: the defeats against Tottenham and Manchester City, where they conceded as many goals as for the entire season when playing at home. After two defeats in a row, Arsenal have won two matches in a row in all competitions, all while managing to also keep a clean sheet.

The visitors will be missing Schneiderlin with a leg injury, while Jack Cork will be available for Emirates, despite missing out during the weekend. Arsenal have their main goalkeeper under doubt, even if Martinez has done a good job so far keeping a clean sheet. Monreal and Gibbs both picked up knocks during the weekend, but should be available for selection. Arsenal will be with a point to prove after the defeat from the Capital one Cup, and it should provide for interesting goal chances on both sides.

With Olivier Giroud and Lauren Koscielny back Arsenal are tipped to keep up their unbeaten run
against the Saints, and an in-form Graziano Pele might not be enough to mark Southampton’s return to winning ways tomorrow. It is yet unclear which formation or players will Wenger use due to his limited selection caused by never-ending injury woes, but if he sends in the same starting eleven from last weekend we will be in for a very hard fought and interesting clash.

Ever since that iconic 6-1 win at the Emirates, Arsenal have been keeping close call wins against The Saints, and another one has 1.75 odds. The Saints have been given 4.95 odds to win, both teams to score 1.88, and over 10.5 corners 1.72. Olivier Giroud is your main choice in the betting market of a player hitting the crossbar without scoring with 6.50 odds, and in the goalscorer market for Southampton Graziano Pelle has 3.30 odds to score, Shane Long 4.75 and Dusan Tadic 5.10. For Arsenal Olivier Giroud has 2.38 odds to score, Danny Welbeck 2.38, Ramsey 2.98 and we’re betting 7 units on Alexis Sanchez to score anytime with 2.28 odds from 888sport.

Liverpool vs Chelsea London (Premier League, 08.11.2014)

Liverpool-vs-Chelsea-08-november-2014-prediction

Liverpool host Chelsea in most likely the biggest match of the weekend where the Reds expect to push for a Champions League spot. Things are not looking good for Liverpool, they are on the 7th place in the table and in the case of a negative result they would drop somewhere near the middle, a place from which European football will look further away.

Chelsea are leading Premier League with a four points advantage over the second place, but as Ivanovic has warned the Blues if they keep up the same form as against Maribor they might as well lose against a struggling Liverpool side. Liverpool might want to avenge last year’s 2-0 defeat which ended the first title hopes they had in 24 years.
Liverpool-vs-Chelsea-08-november-2014-prediction-photo
The Reds allowed themselves to send in a second team against Real Madrid, probably resting their players for the clash with Chelsea, but while criticized for not even trying in Champions League, Rodgers had the decency to introduce Gerrard so that the captain could get a well-deserved standing ovation from the Bernabeu. They didn’t lose with a bigger margin mainly because of Toure as statistics clearly showed Los Blancos had 27 shots on target. Sturridge and Enrique are still under doubt, while Flanagan and Sakho will miss out for sure.

Chelsea are looking forward to improving their unbeaten run and hope Hazard shakes off the penalty miss and gets to score this Saturday. Remy and Mikel are unavailable for selection and by the looks of it Costa has shaken off his tiredness and might want to add to his 9 goals tally against Mignolet who looks to be conceding at least a goal per game. Both teams have two of the best young talents, and both Hazard and Sterling have three goals each in Premier League. Considering what’s at stake you could as well go for booking points: under 45 points has 2.25 odds, Liverpool to get booked last 1.70, while Chelsea 2.15.

The headline offers from William Hill are Sterling to score and Liverpool to win at 9.00 odds, and Hazard to score and Chelsea to win at 5.00 odds. The visitors to lead after 60 minutes have 2.45 odds, while Liverpool 3.30. Over 12 corners has 3.00 odds, while an outright Liverpool win at Anfield Road has 3.25 odds, and we’re betting 7 units on an outright Chelsea win with 2.15 odds.
